In Act Two we move further into the action with Albus, Scorpius, and Delphi. Now that they have the time turner they move onto the main purpose of this mission, which is saving Cedric. They quickly travel to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where the first task of the Triwizard Tournament took place. Albus and Scorpius grab the time turner and it starts spinning. It gradually gets faster and faster, and then an explosion of light takes place and it all turns black. After the explosion, Albus and Scorpius find themselves in the first task of the Triwizard Tournament (1994). The first task consisted of distracting a dragon and getting past it. Cedric had turned a stone into a dog to distract it, but Albus and Scorpius made sure that this did not happen again. Albus managed to disarm Cedric with a spell before he could do anything. This way, he would be disqualified from the tournament and would not have to die in the third task. Suddenly, the time turner started spinning, both of the magicians grabbed on to the machine, and they were sent back to the present.
Albus wakes up on a stretcher in the hospital wing of Hogwarts, with his arm in pain and his father sitting next to him. Harry tells Albus that Bane (the leader of the centaurs) had seen a dark cloud around him. Harry was worried that Scorpius was turning Albus into a bad wizard, therefore he decided to separate them with a map that would tell him their every movement. Then, Ron walks into the hospital wing, talking about Padma and Panju. When Albus asks them who they are, Ron is stupefied, and tells him that they are his aunt and his cousin. Albus cannot believe this: the time turner affected the present horribly! Ron and Hermione are not married anymore and therefore, Rose (Ron and Hermione's daughter) is not even alive! Later, he discovers that not only had Albus and Scorpius ruined their normal lives, but they had not even succeeded with their mission. Cedric was still dead.
Later on in Act Two, Albus and Scorpius manage to meet up without getting caught by Harry, they are going to have one last attempt at saving Cedric. This time, they would try in task two, which took place in the lake. They repeated the procedure of grabbing the time turner and traveling back in time. Once they had traveled back in time, they saw Cedric swimming towards them. Albus took his wand and with a simple spell, he made Cedric fly away. The time turner starts spinning again, and they are sent back to the present. Scorpius swims to the surface of the lake. He looks for Albus, but does not find him. He notices that Hogwarts looks really strange, with green flags of snakes all over it. Scorpius walks into the building feeling scared and finds the headmistress of the school, who was also a teacher in the real world. When the headmistress tells him that they are celebrating Voldemort Day, Scorpius is dumbfounded. He realizes that Harry is dead, Albus never existed, and Voldemort now rules the world.
