Starting from the beginning: Act One

As mentioned before, the story of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is made to be a play. Therefore, the story must have several acts, in this case four. We will start off our journey into the magical world of Harry Potter with the most important parts and highlights of Act One.

The first event in Act One consists of Albus Severus Potter (Harry and Ginny Potter's son) meeting Scorpius Malfoy (Draco Malfoy's son) on their first trip to Hogwarts. During this journey, Scorpius and Albus end up becoming good friends, but little do they know that sooner or later they would be putting their lives at a great risk, their friendship being what would make them stand a chance against the big dangers of the world.

In the winter break of their fourth year at Hogwarts, Albus has a big fight with his dad, Harry loses his temper and says the most horrible thing you could ever say to your son. This makes Albus think that his dad does not like him, and so he decides that he must do something in order to impress Harry and make him a better dad.

One night, Albus overhears Harry talking to a man called Amos Diggory (father of Cedric Diggory). Amos already knew that Harry was part of the Ministry of Magic, and he had also heard rumors about the Ministry finding an illegal time turner and keeping it as a secret. Amos' son had died in the triwizard tournament in the presence of Harry; therefore, he wanted to use the time turner to bring Cedric back. In this conversation, Harry lies to Amos and says that the Ministry is not keeping a time turner. Even though this was the right decision, it made Albus think of his dad as a selfish man, and he decides to get involved.

While Albus is on his way to Hogwarts in the Hogwarts Express with Scorpius, he convinces him to escape the train and go help Amos bring Cedric back from the dead. Albus thought that if he succeeded in this mission, he would impress his father. The two boys manage to get away from the trolley witch (guardian of the Hogwarts Express), escape the train with ease, and get to Amos' house. At this moment, they meet Delphini Diggory (Amos' niece), the woman who would help the two boys throughout their mission to save Cedric.

During Act One, Scorpius, Albus and Delphi manage to sneak into the Ministry of Magic without being noticed and steal the time turner from Hermione's office, after having a hard time with an enchanted library.
